About
Our story
Kalbos is owner-run by Siobhan and Anthony in West Cork. It is all about the food: its provenance, quality and sustainability, but above all seasonality.
Anthony runs their own farm, leased organic land worked on natural farming principles. It supplies salad leaves, new potatoes, strawberries, courgettes, herbs and winter veg for the café, and the same produce is sold to customers along with baked brownies and treats to take away.
The meat comes from West Cork suppliers, among them Walsh's in Skibbereen and Caherbeg in Rosscarbery, with Gubeen bacon and Shannonvale chicken, free-range, high-welfare and seasonal. The recipes are traditional fare, tried and tested, made by the crew under Siobhan's careful tutelage.
The takeaway is Kalbo's to go, and the café serves brunch and lunch. Some days the shop is at a local market or festival; Instagram says where.
